Nose
Ripe blackberry and raspberry jam lead, with a crack of black pepper and a warm cinnamon and clove spice that lifts the fruit.
Palate
Full bodied and rounded, the jammy berry fruit coats the tongue, then pepper and baking spice come through. Tannins are soft, acidity is gentle, and the texture stays smooth, not heavy.
Finish
Ends clean and warm, with lingering blackberry and a final dash of pepper. Medium length, easy to come back to.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl Zinfandel glass so the pepper and spice have room to open. No decant needed, but a few minutes in the glass helps. If it feels too warm, a short chill in the fridge before pouring tightens it up.
