Nose
Ripe blackberry and dusty plum leap out first, with a crack of black pepper and a warm, jammy sweetness underneath.
Palate
Full bodied and round, almost chewy. Sweet blackberry and plum coat the tongue, then black pepper and a soft tug of tannin keep it from going flabby.
Finish
Long and warm, echoing jammy black fruit with a final peppery tickle.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a big glass so the alcohol and fruit have room to breathe. No decanting needed, but a half hour open helps the pepper settle. Pour generously and keep the bottle corked between rounds.
