Nose
Ripe blackberry and plum lead, with a dusting of cracked black pepper and a faint warm earth note underneath.
Palate
Full bodied and smooth, almost plush. Blackberry and juicy plum fill the middle, then black pepper spice kicks in on the back end. Tannins are soft, acid is gentle, and the alcohol gives a rounded warmth.
Finish
Warm and lingering, with sweet black fruit and a final peppery tingle that keeps you coming back.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve at about 60 to 65 degrees, slightly below room temperature, in a wide bowl glass so the fruit opens up. No decanting needed, but a half hour in the glass helps. If it feels too warm, chill the bottle for 15 minutes. A splash of water tames the heat without dulling the fruit.
