The Long Island Wine & Spirit Merchant TeamTasting notes
Nose
Ripe blackberry and black cherry jump out first, then a dusting of black pepper and warm cinnamon. A little brambly, jammy note underneath.
Palate
Full and rounded, with soft tannins that let the dark berry fruit spread out. Black cherry stays central, black pepper and baking spice come up through the middle. Warm and concentrated without being heavy.
Finish
Lingers warmly with blackberry jam and a final pinch of pepper. Medium to long, clean, and mouthwatering.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it at cellar temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl Zinfandel glass so the alcohol and fruit stay in balance. No decanting needed for a young bottle, but a quick splash in the glass opens the pepper notes. If it feels hot, chill the bottle fifteen minutes.
