The story

The story behind Black Saint Peter

Zinfandel is the grape that made California famous, a red that can run from bright and jammy to deep and peppery depending on where it grows and how ripe it gets. Old Vine bottlings come from older vineyards that tend to give smaller crops and more concentrated fruit, often with a softer, rounder feel in the glass.

We stock Black Saint Peter in two forms, the Old Vine Zinfandel and the Zinfandel, both 750mL. This is a small label for us, one to two bottles at a time, so what you see in Commack is what we have.

Good to know

Black Saint Peter questions, answered

What is Zinfandel?
Zinfandel is a red wine grape closely tied to California, known for ripe berry fruit, moderate tannin and a peppery edge. It can be jammy and full or brighter and juicier depending on the vineyard and the winemaking.
How should I serve and pair Black Saint Peter Zinfandel?
Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide glass. Pair it with grilled meat, tomato sauces, pizza or aged cheddar, since the fruit and gentle spice handle fat and acid well.
