The story

The story behind Woodford Reserve

Woodford Reserve is made in Versailles, Kentucky, on a distilling site Elijah Pepper established in 1812. The grounds are a National Historic Landmark, and the water comes from Glenn's Creek, filtered through limestone until the iron is gone. Brown-Forman launched the modern brand in 1996 under Owsley Brown II.

The flagship mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, fermented six days in cypress wood fermenters with a proprietary yeast, then triple distilled in copper pot stills. It ages roughly six to seven years in new charred American white oak inside heat-cycled warehouses. We have carried Woodford Reserve across three decades of Long Island customers.

Woodford Reserve leans toward dark chocolate, citrus and cured pork. Keep the food simple and let the orange peel do the work.
Good to know

Woodford Reserve questions, answered

Is Woodford Reserve a bourbon?
Yes. Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is a Kentucky straight bourbon, made from a 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley mash bill and aged in new charred American white oak.
What is the difference between Woodford Reserve and Double Oaked?
Double Oaked spends a second stretch in heavily toasted, lightly charred barrels after its first maturation. That second barrel adds caramel and oak depth while keeping the same 90.4 proof.
Is Woodford Reserve owned by Brown-Forman?
Yes. Brown-Forman launched the modern Woodford Reserve brand in 1996 under Owsley Brown II, on a Versailles, Kentucky site that has distilled since Elijah Pepper built it in 1812.
How should you drink Woodford Reserve?
Neat or over one large ice cube works best, since a big cube slows dilution. It also holds up in a Mint Julep or an Old Fashioned without losing its orange peel and spice.
Do you deliver Woodford Reserve locally?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free local delivery over $250, and free curbside pickup in Commack. Spirits ship to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout; call (631) 343-7200 to confirm stock.
