Nose
Blackberry and black cherry lead, with cassis underneath and a light cedar edge. A little dried herb and warm oak spice rise as it sits in the glass.
Palate
Full bodied and rounded, soft tannins from the oak. Black cherry and blackberry up front, cassis in the middle, then cedar and baking spice. Dry through, with enough grip to keep it honest.
Finish
Dry and structured, medium to long. Dark fruit fades into cedar and a warm spice note that lingers.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl so the dark fruit opens up. Give it 15 to 20 minutes of air, either decanted or just poured and left to breathe. No ice. A splash of water tames the tannin if you are pouring it young.
