The story

The story behind Los Riscos

Los Riscos comes out of the Curico Valley, in Chile's Central Valley, and it is made by Vina Requingua, part of Survalles, a house with more than 50 years in the wine trade. The grapes are Sauvignon Blanc, nothing else, fermented cool in stainless steel tanks and bottled young so the fruit stays loud.

We have poured this one for years because it does exactly what a house white should. Pale yellow with green edges, lime and fresh grass and green apple on the nose, a medium to light body, high acidity, dry finish. No oak, no fuss. 13% to 13.5% ABV depending on vintage.

The lineup

Los Riscos keeps its lineup small and its prices small. The Sauvignon Blanc is the one to know, and it comes in two sizes.

Good to know

Los Riscos questions, answered

What does Los Riscos Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
It is dry and crisp with high acidity. Expect lime, fresh grass, asparagus and green apple on a medium to light body, with a clean, unaged finish and no oak influence at all.
Where is Los Riscos Sauvignon Blanc from?
It comes from Chile, specifically the Curico Valley in the Central Valley. Vina Requingua, part of Survalles, makes it, a house with more than 50 years in the wine business.
What is the alcohol content of Los Riscos Sauvignon Blanc?
It runs 13% to 13.5% ABV depending on the vintage. That is normal for a cool-fermented Chilean white, and it keeps the wine bright rather than heavy on the palate.
How should I serve Los Riscos Sauvignon Blanc?
Serve it thoroughly chilled, between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Pair it with ceviche, oysters, grilled white fish, green salads, goat cheese or lightly spiced chicken, and it also works in a spritzer.
