Nose
Ripe blackberry and plum lead, with a distinct cracked pepper and a wisp of woodsmoke behind it. Dark fruit stays forward, no jammy excess.
Palate
Full bodied but not heavy. Blackberry and plum roll into savory pepper and smoke, framed by firm, approachable tannins that grip without drying. Acidity keeps it lively through the middle.
Finish
Firm tannins carry the dark fruit and a final peppery flick. Medium length, clean and savory at the end.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve at cool room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees. A standard red wine glass with a wide bowl lets the pepper and smoke open up. Give it 20 minutes in the glass or a quick decant if you want the tannins to soften. No ice.
