Nose
Ripe blackberry and black cherry lead, with a quiet cassis note underneath and a soft toast and cedar edge from the oak.
Palate
Medium to full bodied, rounded and easy in the mouth. Dark fruit rolls through first, blackberry then cherry, cassis close behind, gentle tannins, a dry, smooth mid-palate with just enough grip to keep it honest.
Finish
Finishes dry and smooth, moderate length, with the cedar and dark fruit lingering cleanly.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide-bowled red glass so the fruit opens up. No ice. A short decant, twenty minutes or so, softens the oak edge and lets the blackberry come forward. If you open it young, give the glass a swirl before the first sip.
