Nose
Blackberry and black cherry lead, with a quiet cassis note behind them, then a lift of cedar and baking spice that keeps the fruit from sitting flat.
Palate
Full bodied and rounded, dark fruit up front, blackberry and cherry, a touch of cassis in the middle, moderate tannins giving grip without roughness, cedar and warm spice threading through.
Finish
Medium to long, with cedar and baking spice lingering after the fruit fades, clean and dry at the end.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl glass so the fruit has room to open. A short decant, twenty minutes or so, softens the tannins and pulls the cedar into line. If it still feels tight, a small splash in the glass works. Pour the last glass slowly to keep sediment out.
