The Long Island Wine & Spirit Merchant TeamTasting notes
Nose
Dried rose petals first, then a swirl of tar and bright red cherry. A quiet thread of licorice sits underneath, waiting for air.
Palate
Pale garnet in the glass, but the attack is firm. Grippy tannin grabs the cheeks, red cherry and savory earth unfold, then spice and a lick of licorice on the back end.
Finish
Long and savory, with the tannin still working. Earth and dried spice linger after the fruit fades.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it at cellar temperature, around 60 to 64 degrees, in a wide bowl Burgundy glass. Decant for an hour if you can, or pour it and let it sit in the glass. That grippy Nebbiolo tannin softens with air, so don't rush the first pour.
