The Long Island Wine & Spirit Merchant TeamTasting notes
Nose
Toasted rye grain first, then a crack of black pepper and a wisp of dill. Caramel sits underneath, not sweet, just a warm roundness.
Palate
Medium full body, oily and coating. Rye spice hits up front, pepper and toasted bread, then caramel softens the middle. A green dill edge keeps it lively. Warm, not hot.
Finish
Long and warming, with pepper fading into toasted grain and a faint caramel echo. Clean, dry close.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Neat at room temperature in a rocks glass, or one large cube if you want the pepper tamed. A splash of water opens the caramel and dill. For cocktails, it holds up in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Let it rest a minute after pouring.
