The story behind Tanqueray
Charles Tanqueray founded the house in Bloomsbury, London in 1830, and the recipe has stayed stubbornly small ever since: juniper, coriander, angelica root, licorice. Four botanicals, nothing else. The spirit is distilled four times in a copper pot still nicknamed Old Tom that survived the London Blitz, and today it comes off the stills at Cameronbridge in Fife, Scotland.
Tanqueray is a London Dry by law, which means no sugar and no sweeteners after distillation, ever. The citrus lift you taste comes entirely from peppery coriander seed, not peel. We have poured it for Long Island customers for over 30 years, and the bottle has not needed to change.
