The Long Island Wine & Spirit Merchant TeamTasting notes
Nose
Ripe blackberry and dark cherry lead, then black pepper and dried herbs, with a cedar note that builds as the glass sits.
Palate
Full bodied and broad, firm tannins gripping early. Blackberry and dark cherry come forward first, then pepper and dried herb, cedar threading through. Warm and structured, still holding plenty.
Finish
Long and spicy, pepper and cedar lingering over dark fruit that stays firm to the end.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve at cellar temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl Zinfandel glass so the alcohol and fruit have room. Give it 30 to 45 minutes open, or decant off the sediment that older Turley Zins throw. Pour modestly; this is a big, warm wine that rewards a smaller glass.
