Nose
Ripe blackberry and black cherry lead, then cracked black pepper, dried thyme, and a sweet oak note that has settled into something quieter with age.
Palate
Full body, still firm tannins but rounded by bottle time. Black fruit up front, pepper and dried herbs through the middle, a touch of sweet oak, and bright acidity holding it all together.
Finish
Long and spicy, black fruit fading slowly into pepper and a warm herbal echo.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve at cellar temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl Zinfandel glass so the pepper and fruit have room. Give it 30 to 45 minutes open, or decant if you can, to loosen the tannins. This is a big wine, so pour small and let it breathe. Drink it with food, not on its own.
