Nose
Ripe blackberry and dark plum lead, with a crack of black pepper and a faint vanilla and cedar note from the oak.
Palate
Full bodied and rounded, smooth tannins carrying blackberry and boysenberry first, then a peppery lift, and a soft oak sweetness through the middle.
Finish
Lingers with dark fruit and a warm pepper tingle, medium to long and clean.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve at about 60 to 65 degrees, slightly below room temperature. Use a large Bordeaux glass so the pepper and fruit have room. No decanting needed, but a short splash in the glass opens it. If you chill it too much, the oak turns woody, so let it warm a touch.
