Nose
Toffee and vanilla oak lead, then dried figs and raisins, a lift of orange peel, and toasted clove and nutmeg riding over dark molasses.
Palate
Full and rounded, almost creamy, with molasses and toffee up front, dried dark fruit in the middle, and oak spice building. Warm but never hot, drying gently toward the back.
Finish
Long and warm, the oak and baking spice linger and dry slowly, leaving a trace of orange peel and dark sugar.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve neat in a tulip glass or a small snifter at about 65 to 70 degrees, letting it sit a few minutes after pouring. A drop of water opens the orange peel and softens the oak. Skip ice unless you want to mute the spice; if you do, use one large cube.
