Nose
Raisins and dried figs first, then a caramel sweetness, dark cherry underneath, and a faint nutty edge that keeps it from being cloying.
Palate
Full, syrupy, almost liqueur-like. Sweetness hits immediately, dark cherry and fig, then caramel and a warm raisiny depth. Low tannin, soft acid, but enough to carry the sugar.
Finish
Long and warm, with lingering caramel and dried fruit. The sweetness fades slowly, leaving a soft, almost candied note.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve slightly cool, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a small tulip or port glass. No ice needed, but a splash of soda or a twist of orange works if you want it lighter. A small pour goes a long way, so pace yourself.
