The story behind Tussock Jumper
Tussock Jumper was founded in 2011 by wine expert Peder van Arkel and a group of international specialists. The model is simple and honest: no vineyards owned, no chateau to maintain. Instead the brand sources fruit from independent growers, and this Malbec comes from Argentina's San Juan region, Tulum Valley, at roughly 650 meters of elevation. It is fermented and bottled at origin, so the wine you open traveled once, not twice.
The grapes are 100% Malbec, hand-harvested, then partially aged three months in French and American oak. Fermented dry at about 4.5 grams per liter residual sugar, it lands at a standard 13% ABV. The label animal wears a red knitted sweater, and the name comes from tussock grass and the jumping between countries. We have poured it for value hunters on this counter for years.
