Travaglini Italian Red
A Piedmont Nebbiolo red, poured plain and honest in Commack.
The story behind Travaglini
Gattinara is a small appellation in northern Piedmont, and its wines are built on Nebbiolo, the same grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco. Here the soils and cooler northern position give a red that is firm and aromatic, with dried cherry, rose, tar and a fine grip of tannin. It tends to drink a touch leaner and more savory than its southern neighbors.
We stock the Travaglini Gattinara 750mL right here in Commack, one of just a couple of bottles on our shelf. It is a serious Piedmont red at a fair price, and a good way to taste Nebbiolo outside the famous names.
