The story

The story behind Tomintoul

Tomintoul takes its name from a village high in the Cairngorms, near the source of the Livet, and it is Speyside single malt made in that gentle, unhurried style. The distillery sits in Ballindalloch country, where the water is soft and the air is cold, and the spirit comes off the stills light and grassy rather than heavy. Tomintoul is often called the gentle dram, and that is not marketing. It is a house style.

We have carried Tomintoul at the Commack shop for years because it rewards the drinker who wants malt without smoke and without a fight. The 10 is the everyday pour, the 16 shows what a decade more in cask does, and Tlath is the softer entry point. Three bottles, one clear through line.
