Suhru Shiraz/syrah
Suhru Shiraz, a warm peppery red from right here in New York.
The story behind Suhru
Shiraz and Syrah are the same grape, and the difference is mostly style and climate. Cooler sites and French Syrah tend toward black pepper, violet, olive and dark fruit with firm structure. Warmer sites and Australian Shiraz lean riper and rounder, with plum, blackberry and a softer edge.
New York reds from this grape tend to sit in a savory, peppery middle, medium to full bodied with good acidity. We stock Suhru Shiraz in Commack in small quantity, one to two bottles at a time.
