The story

The story behind Sokol Blosser

Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol Blosser planted their first vines in 1971 in Oregon's Dundee Hills, and poured their first commercial vintage in 1977. Two years later, early bottles took six medals at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, three of them gold. That result told the wine trade what Oregon growers already suspected about Pinot Noir on Jory volcanic soil.

The estate has been USDA Certified Organic, dry farmed, and Salmon-Safe. In 2002 Sokol Blosser built the first LEED-certified winery building in the United States, the underground barrel cellar, and became a Certified B Corporation in 2015. Alex Sokol Blosser now runs the second generation, with Robin Howell as lead winemaker.

Make the most of it

Sokol Blosser cocktails and pairings

Pinot Noir's high acidity and low tannins make it one of the easiest reds to put on a table. Serve it at 55 to 60 degrees and give younger estate bottles 30 to 60 minutes of air.
