Grey Goose Vodka
French winter wheat vodka from Picardy, stocked in Commack for pickup or local delivery.
The story behind Grey Goose
Grey Goose was built on a simple, expensive idea: make vodka in France, from wheat, and charge accordingly. Sidney Frank launched it in 1997 with Maître de Chai François Thibault, who had made Cognac, not vodka. The wheat is soft winter wheat grown in Picardy, in northern France. It is milled, fermented to a rough 10% beer, then run through a five-stage column still of steel and copper in one continuous pass.
The spirit then travels south to Gensac-la-Pallue in Cognac country, where it is cut with limestone-filtered spring water and filtered once through active carbon and cellulose. Unaged, 80 proof, no grapes anywhere near it. Bacardi bought the brand in 2004 for a reported $2.2 billion. We have poured it at this counter for a long time.
