The story

The story behind Facundo

Don Facundo Bacardí Massó founded the house in Santiago de Cuba in 1862, and the yeast he cultivated from sugarcane fields that year, La Levadura BACARDÍ, still ferments every drop. The Facundo Collection arrived in November 2013 to mark the company's 150th year, built entirely from private family reserves held in tropical oak. Heat does the work that time alone does elsewhere, so a decade in cask here tastes like far longer.

Bacardi still owns the brand and bottles these rums in small annual batches, because the stock is finite and nobody is in a hurry to stretch it. Blending and bottling happen across the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Mexico. We have carried the collection for years and watched the Paraíso allocation shrink every time.

Buying guidance

Which Facundo is right for you?

The collection climbs in a straight line, and the prices tell you exactly where the reserves went. Facundo Neo sits at $45.99, the charcoal filtered entry point and the one we sell out of first. Eximo runs $63.99, a ten to twelve year rum blended before it ever saw a barrel. Exquisito is $139.99, finished in Spanish Sherry casks and the bottle that took Best Aged Rum at San Francisco. Paraíso tops the range at $299.99, rums up to 23 years old finished in French XO oak. Buy Facundo online and we will have it ready.

Neo wants cold seafood and citrus. The older three want dark chocolate and a chair.
Good to know

Facundo questions, answered

Is Facundo Rum still being made?
Yes, but in small annual batches. The collection draws on finite private family reserves, so production is limited by what has already aged in oak rather than by demand.
Who owns Facundo Rum?
Bacardi Limited owns Facundo. It remains part of the largest privately held, family owned spirits company in the world, and the collection honors founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó.
What is the most expensive rum in the Facundo Collection?
Facundo Paraíso is the top expression, at $299.99 here. It blends rums aged up to 23 years and finishes them in French oak XO casks, which is where the price lives.
Where is Facundo rum made?
The founder's process began in Santiago de Cuba in 1862. Today the rums come from Bacardi's tropical facilities in the Bahamas and Puerto Rico, then are blended and bottled in Mexico.
Is Facundo Neo a true white rum if it is aged up to 8 years?
Yes. Neo is aged one to eight years, then charcoal filtered to strip the wood color while keeping the vanilla and almond notes the cask gave it. Clear does not mean unaged.
