The story

The story behind El Jimador

El Jimador arrived in 1994, but the hands behind it go back much further. Casa Herradura has been distilling in Amatitan, Jalisco since 1870, and the brand took its name from the jimadores, the crews who walk the fields and cut Blue Weber agave by hand with a curved coa. That is the whole idea: field work first, bottle second.

Every drop is 100% Blue Weber agave, no added sugars, cooked and extracted at NOM 1119, double distilled in column stills, and fermented on wild yeasts native to the fruit trees around the distillery. Brown-Forman bought the house in 2006. We have poured El Jimador across this counter for decades because the agave stays loud and the price stays honest.

El Jimador cocktails and pairings

El Jimador wants acid and salt, not cream sauce. Think grilled citrus-marinated meat, fish tacos with lime, and a bowl of guacamole.
Good to know

El Jimador questions, answered

Is El Jimador 100% agave?
Yes. El Jimador is made with 100% Blue Weber agave and contains no added sugars or sweetening agents. It is distilled at Casa Herradura in Amatitan, Jalisco, using hand-harvested pina and local spring water.
Who owns El Jimador tequila?
Brown-Forman has owned El Jimador since August 28, 2006, when it acquired the brand along with parent distillery Casa Herradura. The house itself dates to 1870, and El Jimador launched in 1994.
What is the difference between El Jimador Blanco and Reposado?
Blanco is unaged and bottled right after distillation, so it tastes crisp with citrus, pepper and herbs. Reposado rests two months in charred American white oak, picking up toasted wood, vanilla and hazelnut. Both are 80 proof.
How do you drink El Jimador tequila?
Serve Blanco neat, on one rock, or in a margarita and paloma where its citrus backbone does the work. Reposado and Anejo suit slow sipping. Pair any of them with grilled citrus-marinated meat, fish tacos or guacamole.
Can I get El Jimador delivered or pick it up locally?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free curbside pickup in Commack, and free local delivery on orders over $250. Spirits are local delivery and pickup, plus shipping to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout.
