Dante Robino Malbec
Mendoza Malbec from Perdriel, poured in Commack since the start.
The story behind Dante Robino
Dante Robino was founded in 1920 by an Italian immigrant from Piedmont who planted his stake in Perdriel, inside the Lujan de Cuyo appellation of Mendoza, Argentina. The vineyards climb between 950 and 1,150 meters, where cool nights and wide day to night temperature swings concentrate sugar and acid in the fruit. Cerveceria y Malteria Quilmes acquired the estate in 2020.
We have poured this Malbec across our counter for years. The entry bottling stays fresh and fruit driven with little wood, while the flagship Gran Dante comes off high altitude plots in Los Chacayes, Uco Valley, and rests 14 months in oak. That one earned 96 points at the International Wine Challenge, named Best Malbec in the World for the 2021 vintage.
