Corzo Tequila
Highland agave, triple distilled, poured in Commack since the beginning.
The story behind Corzo
Corzo arrived in 2004, built by Bacardi USA for the luxury shelf, and it has never been a shy bottle. The liquid comes from Arandas in the Jalisco Highlands, NOM 1487, where 100 percent Weber Blue Agave grows in volcanic soil and picks up that sweeter, citrus forward character. The distillery cuts away the bitter top cone of each pina before roasting, uses up to 22 pounds of agave per bottle, and runs three distillations instead of the usual two.
They even play classical music to the yeast. Believe it or not, the results speak. Fabien Baron designed the rectangular bottle after Luis Barragan's mid century architecture, waterfall mouth and all. We have poured Corzo across this counter for years, and the Anejo remains the quiet favorite among guests who think they do not like tequila.
