The story

The story behind Cabo Wabo

Cabo Wabo was founded by Sammy Hagar in 1996, first mixed for his Cantina in Cabo San Lucas before it ever saw a retail shelf. It is made in the Jalisco Highlands under NOM 1440 at Destiladora San Nicolas, from 100% Blue Weber agave and nothing else. The pina quarters are steam cooked in stainless autoclaves, then double distilled in pot stills with a deliberately thick cut, so heads and tails stay in the heart. That is why the agave reads raw and peppery rather than polished.

Campari bought a controlling stake in 2007 and the rest in 2011. We have carried Cabo Wabo through every one of those ownership changes, and the liquid has stayed consistent.

Good to know

Cabo Wabo questions, answered

Who owns Cabo Wabo Tequila?
Campari Group owns Cabo Wabo outright. It bought an 80% controlling stake in 2007 for $80 million, then purchased the remaining 20% in 2011. Founder Sammy Hagar launched the brand in 1996 for his Cabo San Lucas cantina.
Is Cabo Wabo tequila 100% agave?
Yes, every expression is 100% Blue Weber agave with no grain or neutral spirit blending. The pinas are steam cooked in stainless autoclaves and double distilled in pot stills in the Jalisco Highlands under NOM 1440.
What is the difference between Cabo Wabo Blanco, Reposado and Anejo?
Blanco is unaged and bottled clear. Reposado rests 2 to 6 months in American oak. Anejo spends at least 12 months in American oak casks. All three are bottled at 40% ABV, or 80 proof.
How do you drink Cabo Wabo tequila?
Sip the Blanco or Anejo neat or over ice in a traditional glass to keep the highland pepper intact. The Reposado is the one to pour into margaritas and palomas. Ceviche and citrus marinades suit all three.
Do you deliver Cabo Wabo tequila locally?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free local delivery over $250, and free curbside pickup at our Commack store. Spirits ship to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout; call (631) 343-7200 to confirm stock.
