The story behind Boondocks
Boondocks launched in 2016 out of Bardstown, Kentucky, built with David Scheurich, a 40 year industry veteran and former Master Distiller at Woodford Reserve. The brand is a non distilling producer: barrels are sourced from established Kentucky distilleries and blended to Scheurich's profile. It sits under Royal Wine Corporation, the family owned house led by Mordy Herzog.
What separates Boondocks is the barrel and the still proof. The core American Whiskey is distilled between 160 and 190 proof and aged in used American oak bourbon barrels, which is why it drinks softer and sweeter than a straight bourbon. Most of the line is certified Kosher. We have poured these on Jericho Turnpike for years, and the 11 year remains the quiet favorite.
