The story

The story behind Barton

Barton traces to 1933, when whiskey brokers Oscar Getz and Lester Abelson set up shop just after Prohibition ended. The Bardstown, Kentucky property they bought in 1944 dates to 1879, and the Sazerac Company, an independent family-owned producer, owns the brand today. The vodka itself is 100% grain neutral spirit, distilled four times and run through traditional charcoal filtration to strip fusel oils and leave a clean, neutral profile.

No aging, no grapes, no agave. Just grain, water, heat and carbon. That is the whole recipe, and it is why the bottle has sat on back bars and well racks for decades.

The lineup

Barton keeps the lineup short: an 80 proof workhorse, a 100 proof version for punches, and Naturals for a lighter pour.

Good to know

Barton questions, answered

Who makes Barton Vodka?
Barton Vodka is owned by the Sazerac Company, an independent, family-owned American spirits producer. The brand's distilling footprint is tied to Bardstown, Kentucky, and the corporate lineage goes back to 1933.
Is Barton Vodka gluten free?
Barton is made from 100% grain neutral spirits, so it is a grain-based vodka rather than a potato or grape spirit. Anyone with gluten sensitivity should confirm with the producer before drinking.
How is Barton Vodka made?
It is distilled four times from grain neutral spirit, then run through traditional charcoal filtration to remove fusel oils. No aging follows. The result is a clean, neutral vodka built for mixing.
Is Barton Vodka good for cocktails?
Yes, as a well mixer. Its neutral profile and low price suit high-acid and heavy-sugar drinks like a Moscow Mule, Vodka Cranberry, Screwdriver, or batch punch where the spirit is not the star.
