Airfield Sauvignon Blanc
Washington estate Sauvignon Blanc, poured in Commack since the hangar days.
The story behind Airfield
Airfield starts with land, not a label. H. Lloyd Miller bought the Yakima Valley property in 1920, Donald Miller planted grapes there in 1968, and Michael Lloyd Miller founded the winery in 2005. The vineyard sits on the family's Airport Ranch, ground that trained Army Air Corps pilots in World War II. Surviving hangars still store farm equipment, and the labels nod to that history.
The Airfield Sauvignon Blanc is 100% estate grown, hand sorted, whole cluster pressed and fermented cold in stainless steel and concrete at 61 to 62 degrees. New Zealand yeast strains push the tropical fruit, and twice monthly lees stirring for two months builds texture without oak. The estate holds Sustainable WA and Salmon-Safe certifications and farms vegan.
Explore the Airfield range
Airfield makes two Sauvignon Blancs: a stainless steel estate bottling at 12.4 to 12.9% ABV and a small lot Old Vine from 1978 vines, aged in new French oak puncheons.
