Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of Cabernet Sauvignon and stands on its own as a lighter, brighter red. It shows red fruit, a leafy herbal edge and gentle tannin, and it drinks well with food rather than needing years in the cellar. Styles range from crisp and peppery in cool climates to riper and rounder in warmer ones.
