The story

The story behind Wonderlust

Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape that made red wine a global language: thick skinned, late ripening, and structured enough to age, which is why growers plant it from Bordeaux to Long Island's North Fork. Wonderlust works in that familiar register, bottling Cabernet as a straightforward drinking red rather than a collector's trophy. We have carried the label long enough to know what it does well, and it does the everyday job: dark fruit, a firm but friendly grip of tannin, and a finish that stays out of the way of dinner.

The Carmenere in the lineup points to the same practical thinking. Chile kept that grape alive after phylloxera cleared it from Bordeaux, and it turns up in reds built for the table, soft and herbal next to Cabernet's spine. We cannot tell you the exact vineyard or vintage story behind Wonderlust, and we will not invent one. What we can tell you is what the bottles taste like on a Tuesday and what they cost.

Buying guidance

Which Wonderlust is right for you?

Pricing here is simple. The Wonderlust Cabernet Reserve runs 13.98, and the Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere both sit at 9.98. That puts a decent weeknight red on the table for under ten dollars and a slightly fuller pour for a few dollars more. At these prices you can keep a bottle open for pasta on Wednesday and not think twice about it. We stock the Reserve on the shelf now; the other two move in and out, so call ahead and we will tell you what is in.

Wonderlust cocktails and pairings

Cabernet wants fat and char; Carmenere wants herbs and roasted vegetables. Keep both pours generous and the food simple.

Good to know

Wonderlust questions, answered

Is Wonderlust Cabernet sweet or dry?
Wonderlust Cabernet is a dry red wine. Expect dark fruit and tannin rather than sugar, with the Reserve showing a fuller body than the standard bottling. Serve it slightly below room temperature for the best balance.
Where is Wonderlust wine made?
We do not have verified origin details for Wonderlust, so we will not guess at a region or winery. Treat it as a value red label in the Cabernet and Carmenere styles, and judge it on what is in the glass.
What is the difference between the Reserve and the regular Cabernet?
The Reserve is the fuller wine of the two, with darker fruit and firmer tannin, and it costs a few dollars more at 13.98 versus 9.98. The standard Cabernet Sauvignon is lighter and easier for everyday drinking.
Can I get Wonderlust delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer free curbside pickup at our Commack store and local delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, same-day or next-day, with free local delivery on orders over 250 dollars. Wine ships only to states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout.
What is Carmenere and how does it compare to Cabernet?
Carmenere is a red grape that Chile kept growing after it largely disappeared from Bordeaux. It gives softer, more herbal wine than Cabernet, with plum and green notes, which makes it a friendly match for roasted vegetables and lighter meats.
