The story

The story behind William Hill

Bill Hill planted his first vines in 1976, and the estate has been owned by E. & J. Gallo since 2007. The North Coast Sauvignon Blanc is the workhorse of the lineup: long, cool fermentation entirely in stainless steel, then a short rest on the lees for weight without oak. Small percentages of Albariño, Viognier and Grüner Veltliner join the blend in most vintages, which is why the mid-palate holds up better than the price suggests.

We have poured this for customers for years, and it has earned a Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Screw cap, 13.8 to 13.9 percent alcohol, and a bottle that behaves the same every time you open it. That consistency is the whole point.

William Hill cocktails and pairings

Chill it to 45 to 50 degrees and pour it with anything briny or green. The lemongrass note does the rest.
Good to know

William Hill questions, answered

Is William Hill Sauvignon Blanc sweet or dry?
It is dry. Fermentation finishes out in stainless steel, leaving bright acidity and citrus rather than residual sugar, with a short lees rest adding body instead of sweetness.
Where is William Hill Sauvignon Blanc made?
The North Coast bottling comes from California's North Coast AVA, north of San Francisco. William Hill was founded in 1976 and has been owned by E. & J. Gallo Winery since 2007.
What does William Hill Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
Expect lemongrass, citrus and a rounder mid-palate than most Sauvignon Blanc at this price. Small additions of Albariño, Viognier and Grüner Veltliner build weight without oak.
What food pairs with William Hill Sauvignon Blanc?
Raw oysters, fresh green salads and acid-driven dishes. Serve it well chilled, between 45 and 50 degrees, in a standard white wine glass to trap the aromatics.
Can I get William Hill Sauvignon Blanc delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free curbside pickup in Commack, and free local delivery on orders over 250 dollars. Call (631) 343-7200.
