The story

The story behind Vendange

Vendange takes its name from the French word for grape harvest, and Don Sebastiani launched the label in 1987 out of Sebastiani Vineyards in California. The Merlot is 100 percent Merlot fruit sourced across California and anchored in Acampo and Lodi, vinified as an easy everyday red with a light touch of toasty oak for mild wood and spice over bright red fruit. Constellation bought the label in 2001, and the value lines moved to The Wine Group in 2025.

We have sold this bottle through every one of those handoffs, and the wine has stayed steady: soft, dry, food-friendly, and priced so you can open it on a Tuesday. The brand also pioneered the airtight Tetra Pak Go-Pack, which keeps an open pour fresh without glass weight.

Buying guidance

Which Vendange is right for you?

Vendange Merlot is where value gets real. The 1.5L magnum runs $9.99, which works out to about a nickel an ounce and makes it the bottle we hand people feeding a backyard full of guests. The 500mL is $3.99 and the 187mL is $1.66, so you can buy a single glass without committing to a whole bottle. Compare the 1.5L Cabernet at $10.99 or the Chardonnay at $10.99 and you see the pattern: honest California wine, honest shelf price, no theater.
