The story behind Turning Leaf
Turning Leaf comes out of California, made by E. & J. Gallo Winery in Modesto, a name that has been filling American tables since the 1930s. The brand was introduced under the Gallo Family Vineyards umbrella and relaunched as a standalone label in 2009. It is registered as California Table Wine, with grapes drawn from winegrowing regions across the state.
The style is deliberate: fruit forward, aromas of vanilla and brown spice, black cherry and blackberry jam over a smooth, silky mouthfeel with structural oak tannins. The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon took Double Gold at the 2010 Florida State Fair Wine Competition. We have poured it for customers who want a dry red that does not ask anything of them.
