Tribuno Vermouth
American vermouth since 1938, built for the Manhattan.
The story behind Tribuno
Tribuno started in the New York City area in 1938, when Mario P. Tribuno turned a four year hobby into Vermouth Industries of America. He had been tinkering with botanical formulas since 1934, and the proprietary blend of wormwood, rosemary, marjoram, angelica and sage came down through the family. Coca-Cola Bottling of New York bought the brand in 1973. Today The Wine Group makes it in California.
That California address matters. Where European vermouths lean on regional grapes, Tribuno is built on California white wine, so the sweet version reads candied peach, plum and Concord grape rather than bitter herb. We have poured it behind this counter for three decades because it does the job in a Manhattan without asking for a second mortgage.

Which Tribuno is right for you?
Tribuno is the bottle you keep on the shelf and do not ration. The Sweet 750mL runs $5.99, and the Dry 750mL is $4.99. Step up to a liter and you pay $7.99 either way, which is the smarter buy if you mix more than one cocktail a week. The 1.5L sizes land at $9.99, and the 375mL halves at $3.99, though those come and go. Nothing here is a splurge, so buy Tribuno online and stock both expressions.
