The story behind Torres
Familia Torres has been working the soil of Penedes, in Catalonia, since the 17th century, and the wine company itself dates to 1870, when Jaime Torres Vendrell set up shop in Vilafranca del Penedes. Five generations later the family still owns it, and that continuity shows in the glass.
Torres helped drag Spanish winemaking into the modern era, adopting stainless steel, temperature control and French oak early, and planting international varieties in Penedes when few neighbors dared. The house also runs organic viticulture and climate programs across its estates. Sangre de Toro, the bull's blood red, has been the value benchmark for decades.
