The story

The story behind The Lost Distillery

The Lost Distillery makes blended Scotch built around the idea of reconstruction: the team studies the records, equipment and water of Scottish distilleries that closed, then blends malt whisky to approximate the character those houses once made. Gerston and Stratheden are the names on the bottles we stock, both drawn from that same archival approach rather than from a single surviving site.

What that means in the glass is a blended malt Scotch with a malt-forward, gently smoky and slightly coastal profile, closer to an old-style Highland or Speyside dram than to a modern chill-filtered blend. We have carried these bottles for years because they give customers a way into Scotch history without a collector's price. Serve them neat or with a splash of water and let the malt do the talking.

Buying guidance

Which The Lost Distillery is right for you?

All three Lost Distillery bottles we list sit at $49.99 for a 750mL, which is fair money for a blended malt with this much story behind it. Gerston is in stock now at that price. The Blended Malt and Stratheden are listed at the same $49.99 but currently out of stock, so ask us to check the back room or the next delivery before you make the trip. No inflated collector pricing here.

Good to know

The Lost Distillery questions, answered

What is The Lost Distillery Scotch?
It is a blended malt Scotch whisky line built to recreate the character of Scottish distilleries that have closed. The team works from historical records and blends malt whisky toward those old profiles rather than bottling a single surviving site.
Is The Lost Distillery a real distillery?
Not in the traditional sense. The Lost Distillery Company is a blender, not an operating distillery, and its bottles are reconstructions of closed distilleries. The whisky inside is blended malt Scotch, selected and married to approximate those lost house styles.
What does Gerston Scotch taste like?
Gerston is malt-forward with soft smoke and a little orchard fruit, finishing dry. It drinks well neat or with a splash of water and suits anyone moving from blends into malt whisky without a heavy peat hit.
Can I get The Lost Distillery Scotch delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free local delivery over $250, and free curbside pickup at our Commack store. Spirits ship to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout, so delivery and pickup are the ways to get it.
How should I serve a blended malt Scotch like this?
Serve it neat in a tulip glass, or add a few drops of water to soften the alcohol and lift the malt. A splash of soda over ice makes a clean highball. Skip heavy mixers that bury the grain and malt character.
