Salentein Merlot
Argentine reds from Salentein, stocked small in Commack.
The story behind Salentein
Salentein is an Argentine producer, and the reds we carry come from Mendoza, the country's best known wine region. Mendoza sits high in the Andes foothills, where strong sun and cool nights give red grapes thick skins and bright acidity. Merlot from there tends to be round and generous, with plum and dark cherry fruit, a little herbal lift, and soft tannins that make it easy to drink young.
We keep just a bottle or two of each Salentein red in Commack, so what you see is what we have. Call ahead and we will check the shelf for you.

Which Salentein is right for you?
Both Salentein bottles are $16.99 for a 750mL, which is honest money for Mendoza red. That is a fair price for a weeknight bottle that still has real fruit and structure. Stock is thin, one or two bottles at a time, so call the store at (631) 343-7200 before you drive over and we will confirm what is on the shelf.
Soft tannins and plum fruit make it an easy pour with dinner.
Firm structure and dark fruit hold up to charred beef.
Salentein cocktails and pairings
Pour the Merlot with roasted chicken or mushroom dishes, and the Cabernet with grilled steak.
