Olifant Vodka
Dutch grain vodka, five distillations, one stubborn elephant.
The story behind Olifant
Olifant was established by the Melchers family in 1841 in Schiedam, Netherlands, a city that has been distilling longer than most countries have been countries. The elephant on the label is not decoration: barrels bound for Dutch colonies in South and West Africa were stamped with it so buyers could identify the brand on sight. That logo outlasted the trade route.
Production today runs through the historic Wenneker Distillery. The spirit is 100% neutral grain, primarily wheat, distilled five times and left unaged. Five passes through the still is why the palate entry is soft and the finish carries only a mild grain spice. We have poured Olifant for Long Island customers for years, and it has never needed a story to sell itself.
