Lauca Sauvignon Blanc
Chilean coastal Sauvignon Blanc, chilled and ready in Commack.
The story behind Lauca
Lauca comes out of Chile's Maule Valley, at the Hijuela Estate on the banks of the Maule River, between the Andes and the Pacific. That coastal pull and the alluvial, gravelly, low fertility soils do the talking here. Grapes are picked by hand in March, then fermented in stainless steel, no oak, no butter, nothing between you and the fruit.
We have poured Chilean whites on this floor for three decades, and the value tier has never been the weak spot. The estate runs roughly 665 hectares of vineyards with about 6 million liters of capacity. Lauca keeps the Sauvignon Blanc lean and mineral, the way the Maule does it best.
