La Cattedrale Italian Red
Everyday Italian red from a small label we keep in Commack.
The story behind La Cattedrale
Montepulciano is the grape behind some of Italy's most easygoing reds, the kind poured by the glass in trattorias across Abruzzo and the Marche. It tends to be medium bodied, low in tannin and generous with dark cherry and dried herb, which is why it works so well at the table without asking much of you.
La Cattedrale is a small label for us. We keep a bottle or two of the Montepulciano on the shelf in Commack, so it is here when you want a simple, honest red at a fair price.

Which La Cattedrale is right for you?
The Montepulciano is $9.98 a bottle, which is the sort of price that makes it easy to keep one open on a weeknight. At that number we would rather you buy two than one, and it holds up fine for a casual dinner with tomato sauce, sausage or a plain roast chicken.
Cheap enough to open on a Tuesday with pasta and red sauce.
Soft tannin and dark cherry suit pizza, sausage and simple roasts.
La Cattedrale cocktails and pairings
Keep it simple and serve it slightly cool with food that has some fat or acid to it.
