The story behind Ketel One
Ketel One comes out of Schiedam, the Dutch distilling town where the Nolet family has worked since 1691. Carolus Nolet Sr., tenth generation, built the vodka itself in 1983 and named it for Distilleerketel #1, the oldest coal fired copper pot still in the building. That still is not decoration. A portion of every batch is redistilled through the ten copper pots, which strips bitter sulfur and leaves the silky weight you feel on the tongue.
The base is 100% European winter wheat, column distilled first, then blended back with the pot still spirit, filtered through loose charcoal and rested in tile lined tanks. No sugar, no flavoring. An eleventh generation Nolet still tastes and signs off on each batch before it leaves. Thirty plus years behind our counter, that signature is the reason we keep it in the well.
