The story behind Joel Gott
Joel Gott founded the label in 1996 in St. Helena, California, with his wife Sarah, a winemaker who came up through Joseph Phelps and Quintessa. The model was never estate farming. Fruit is leased and bought from independent growers across Napa, Sonoma, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Lodi and Washington State, and each site is fermented and aged separately before any blending starts.
That is why the Joel Gott red blends taste the way they do: Sarah Gott builds the final wine from components chosen for structure against acidity, then ages in a calculated mix of American and French oak. In 2009 the brand partnered with Trinchero Family Estates for sales and distribution while the Gotts kept winemaking control. We have poured these for years because they overdeliver at the price.
