The story behind House Jam
House Jam Rose comes out of Emilia-Romagna, the northern Italian region that gave us Lambrusco and a long comfort with lightly sparkling, faintly sweet red and pink wine. The producer, Casabella and House of Wine, keeps the method simple: brief skin contact or soft direct pressing for the pink hue, then bottling young. No oak, no extended aging, nothing to mute the primary fruit.
The blend leans on regional grapes, Malvasia, Muscat, Lambrusco or Cabernet Sauvignon depending on the lot, and the wine is finished with noticeable residual sugar and a soft sparkle. Alcohol runs roughly 7 to 11.5 percent by bottling. It is not trying to be Provence. It is trying to be cold, easy and a little sweet, and it succeeds.
