The story behind Hanson
Hanson of Sonoma started in the Carneros region of Sonoma County, where the Hanson family, Chris, Brandon, Scott, Judy, Darren and Alanna, began research and development in 2012 and ran their first commercial harvest in 2013. The base is not grain. It is 100 percent USDA certified organic, non GMO, gluten free white grapes, largely French Colombard, pressed on a traditional wine bladder press and fermented into a high acid base wine with no added sulfites.
That wine runs through a custom German double pot still and a 50 plate copper column still. The house base, Batch 123, was chosen by a tasting panel after 155 trial batches. Fresh organic fruit is hand peeled and sliced at the distillery for the infusions, and the proofing water passes a seven way filtration system. No syrups, no added sugar, no glycerin. We have poured these bottles for years and the grape backbone is why they taste clean rather than sweet.
