The story

The story behind Guenoc

Guenoc begins in 1888, when British stage actress Lillie Langtry bought 4,000 acres in southeastern Lake County and became a California vintner. The Guenoc Valley AVA that carries her name was approved in 1981, the first American appellation granted to a single winery estate. The home vineyards climb volcanic terrain from 700 to 1,500 feet, where shallow gravel and loam soils and high UV intensity concentrate fruit and build firm skin tannins.

Foley Family Wines has owned the brand and the Langtry Estate since 2012. The everyday California Cabernet blends in Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for a smooth, rounded profile, then finishes on toasted vanilla oak. We have poured it across this counter for years because it delivers real Cabernet character at a price that keeps people coming back.
